ALL STARS by Katy It all started in the year 2018 when I was given the opportunity to coach the Washington Redskins Cheerleaders All-Star Dance Team and what an honor it was. That year was full of exciting moments beginning with our Teen Dance Camp auditions. Invitations are sent out and then the real work began. The season consisted of three to four dance competitions, one dance convention, the Spirit Explosion halftime show with the Washington Redskins Cheerleaders and ended with a National Competition! The team worked closely with the Cheerleaders to learn the choreography, dance technique and skills needed to get ready for competition. More than that, as cheerleaders we wanted to inspire the team to be amazing young women. The best part is that they had the opportunity to bond with one another and us. The Washington Redskins Cheerleaders worked with the team in a variety of ways. My teammate Ceci and I worked with them to learn and perfect their choreography. WRC Alumni Meag returned to teach them a hip hop routine. Many of my other team members would often work with them at practice or cheer for them at competitions. The love and support for the All-Star Team was evident. I was proud to be a coach for this amazing group of girls. The Washington Redskins Cheerleaders All-Star Dance Team is just one of the ways that we continue to inspire and encourage young dancers and cheerleaders. Their hard work and determination paid off as we went on to win Nationals! @juniorredskinscheerleaders 37
